Travel Review: Gulf Shores, Ala. (Part 3 of 3 – All the Rest)

20 Jul

In this final post about our Gulf Shores vacation, I’ll post a little bit of everything. Here are all the other places we visited on our trip.

The House

We spent our stay in a rented beachfront home in Gulf Shores. It was a great location (not too crowded, not too remote).

Traveling with a baby, I can’t even describe how awesome it is to have a full kitchen and a full washer and dryer. We were able to eat lots of meals at home, had ample space to prepare, store and wash bottles, and we were even able to wash and dry our cloth diapers. I highly recommend a house or condo for families with little ones.

It’s also the most fun for everyone in the family to be able to stay together in one place. We don’t have a big group of family and friends locally, so it’s great to be surrounded by a big group of loving folks now and then, especially for our little one.

Tanger Outlet Mall

We don’t have much time for shopping back home, so we love to shop on vacation. The outlet malls can have some amazing deals. As with any outlet mall, you need to be a savvy shopper to make sure the outlet mall price is really a good deal, but we had a lot of fun and got some good values while we were there.

Flora-Bama

Since we had so much family around, my husband and I were lucky enough to have a little grown-ups night out on our trip! We went to the well-known Flora-Bama bar, located right on the border between–you guessed it!–Florida and Alabama.

From the road, it doesn’t look like much, but Flora-Bama is actually a neat place. The big sprawling outdoor venue is home to two stages with live music and numerous bars serving both beer and liquor.

Live entertainment at the Flora-Bama.

We grabbed a couple of bourbon and cokes and enjoyed watching two musical acts. Both were good. We didn’t stay out too late because we were eager to get home to our sleepy, cuddly baby, but it definitely was a great night out.

Hope you enjoyed these reviews of our vacation! If you have any questions, leave them in the comments. Or tell me about your favorite Gulf Shores must-sees.
