Traveling with toddlers is always an adventure, but with a little preparation and a lot of flexibility, it can also be fun. We recently returned from a week-long trip to Gulf Shores, Ala., and we couldn’t have had a better time. (For more about Gulf Shores, see my posts from last year’s vacation here, here and here.)
Based on my experiences, here are my favorite tips for surviving a vacation with a toddler.
Just because you can’t go on a fancy vacation doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some time off. Why not plan a stay-cation, a vacation right in your own back yard?
We recently enjoyed a stay-cation here in Orlando, and here are four rules we followed to make it great.
The Daily City’s Orlando Food Truck Bazaar keeps growing and growing. This month’s gathering of gourmet food trucks was rumored to be the biggest one yet, and it did not disappoint. For every truck we had a chance to try, I probably added three more trucks to my “to-eat list.” Even the chilly weather–the coolest evening of the season so far–didn’t stop people from coming out and enjoying the feast on the go.
Target has been releasing some great limited-edition fashion collections in recent years, and their recent collaboration with designer Jason Wu may be one of their best to-date. Not surprisingly, the collection sold out very quickly, but I had a chance to shop it when it hit stores on Feb. 5.
Things have been a little slow around the blog lately, which is usually a good indication that my life is anything but slow! I thought this week’s “Your Three Words” would be a great place to catch up on all the random things me and the family have been up to.
I did it! I am now officially a half-marathoner! I completed the OUC Half-Marathon in downtown Orlando on Dec. 3.
As you may remember, it was my first half-marathon and I had no time goal. I would have been happy to stumble across the finish line in any shape, but I totally surpassed my own expectations and finished–feeling strong and smiling!–at a time of two hours, 13 minutes and 56 seconds. That’s a 10 minute and 13 second mile, or just a little slower than my old 5K pace! Below are my impressions of the race itself, as well as my personal half-marathon experience.
