St. Patrick’s Day was Saturday, and even though we had a busy weekend planned, I couldn’t let the holiday go by without doing something a little bit special to celebrate. My solution? Guinness floats.
Sherri over at Young House love has posted the latest edition of the “Pinterest Challenge,” and if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a must-read. Sherri’s project, a pouf chair, is great, but what’s really amazing is the wealth of great ideas in the link-up. I haven’t even begun to read them all–there’s already more than 600 posted–but I am so impressed by all the talent and creativity.
My entry in the Pinterest Challenge is a project I completed some time ago, but never got around to posting on the blog. I was looking for a special meal to serve on Christmas morning, and I remembered this tasty-looking pin for overnight blueberry french toast from my recipes board on Pinterest.
The Daily City’s Orlando Food Truck Bazaar keeps growing and growing. This month’s gathering of gourmet food trucks was rumored to be the biggest one yet, and it did not disappoint. For every truck we had a chance to try, I probably added three more trucks to my “to-eat list.” Even the chilly weather–the coolest evening of the season so far–didn’t stop people from coming out and enjoying the feast on the go.
We headed downtown on a Sunday a few months ago to visit the Lake Eola farmer’s market, and we decided to stop by Prickly Pear for their Sunday Brunch. Prickly Pear is owned by the same group as local favorites Funky Monkey and Bananas Diner, so it’s been on our “to try” list for a while. They offer a different menu for Sunday Brunch, so be aware that if you visit for dinner you’ll see a different menu than what we sampled.
We visited the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the Thanksgiving holiday and had a great time reuniting and celebrating with family and friends. And, of course, like any time we get together with our loved ones, this trip involved lots of good food. Honestly, the best food we ate were all the home-cooked goodies we enjoyed at home with family, but we did have a few meals out worth noting, so here are some brief reviews.
Orlando’s Magical Dining Month is a great opportunity to try new restaurants or old favorites with a very affordable prix fixe menu, all while raising money for Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida. The event was held in September, and we had a chance to try two restaurants this year. We sampled one new location, K Wine Bar in Orlando’s College Park neighborhood, and one old favorite, Funky Monkey Wine Company at Pointe Orlando in the International Drive area.
I’m not much of a chef, but I love browsing for recipes on Pinterest. One of my favorite things about Pinterest is that, due to its visual nature, many of the recipes pinned are really beautiful or interesting to look at. Even better, there seems to be a wealth of recipes that are interesting to look at and easy to make, like my last Pinterest Challenge entry, Antipasto Skewers. Today’s recipe also fits the bill, and I am lovingly nicknaming it the Franken-Cookie.
